Since I began earnestly with this project this past April my goal has been to produce a Photo-Book. I have already announced that I plan to have it published before the beginning of the Fourth Quarter of 2022. I still don’t have an exact date on when it will be published, but after careful consideration, I have the title.

Chesapeake Country Roads: Chesapeake City to Queenstown

As I have said elsewhere, in April I realized for the past few years I have mostly been photographing the Country Roads of Maryland Eastern Shores of the Chesapeake Bay. See About for more about that revelation.

Prior to the announcement by the The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) “America’s Byways” establishment of the Chesapeake Country All-American Road, which is 400-mile route from Chesapeake City to Smith Island on country roads along the Chesapeake Bay, there was the Chesapeake Country Byway that ran from Chesapeake City to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

The Byway ran through south eastern Cecil County and the Counties of Kent and Queen Anne’s. Mostly on MD213 through the towns of Cecilton, Galena, Kennedyville, Chestertown, Church Hill, Centreville, and MD18 to Queenstown, Grasonville, and Stevensville, with a branch in Kent County to Betterton and Rock Hall. The title may stop at Queenstown, but it will include photos from Grasonville and Stevensville, with beyond Queenstown. The town of Wye Mills may also be included.

I live in Chestertown, the center of the federal designated Chesapeake Country Byway, and have photograph the sights and events along this Byway. So it seemed natural that the first, of a proposed three, photo-books should be this part of the Chesapeake Country All-American Road. The second will be of the Mid-shore section, Caroline, Talbot and Dorchester Counties, with the third being the lower shore counties of Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset.

While I am putting together these book, I hope that you follow the progress here on this Website and on Facebook and Instagram @ShoreToBeFun. I’ll be using the hashtags #ChesapeakeCountryRoads and #ChesapeakeCountry
