Much of my photography over the past 10 years has been as a photojournalist. It was from covering events in Kent County and the surrounding area, that created the interest in photographing and sharing the sights seen in Chesapeake Country. For this week’s photo of the week, I decided to on one from an event I photographed this week.
In 2017, March 29th was officially designated National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The day is a way for Americans to honor and celebrate the men and women who served during the Vietnam Period (1955-1975).
Chestertown held what is planned as the first of an annual ceremony Welcoming Home these veterans who were often forgotten due to a unpopular war.
Over 200 people attended the ceremony, many of these were veterans of the Vietnam War.
WELCOME HOME!
Note:
More photos of the event can be seen on the Local in Kent, MD Facebook page
