Last week I wasn’t sure I was going to do a Drive this week, but on my way to cover CannaFest in Denton yesterday, I decided to stop at a few places. I have passed this location in Queen Anne’s County just a few miles off of US301 on Price Station Road, MD405, quite a few times. I’ve been thinking about stopping to photograph the three crosses and thought that with Easter being today there couldn’t be a better time
Ridgely is place I travel through many times on the way to Denton and I decided to stop at the Train Station Museum. The Museum wasn’t open, although if they keep to schedule it will be in a few weeks. The schedule has been to be open on the first Saturday of the Month beginning in May and throughout the Summer.
Instead of going directly to Denton I decided to take a short detour to Hillsboro. Hillsboro sit on the border of Caroline and Talbot Counties. In this photo you can see the bridge across the Tuckahoe Creek.
For those who don’t know it when taking Business 404 into Denton you can find stops on the Harriet Tubman Byway. Both sides of the Choptank River and the Court House. The current Caroline County Court House wasn’t built until 1895, however it’s at the same location as the one that served the county during most of the 19th Century.
Earlier this week Caroline County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) held a fundraiser, Pinwheels for Prevention.
CannaFest, a family friendly event helping to bring cannabis awareness & advocacy to the community, was held in Denton on April 16, 2022. The festival had live music, tattoo sessions, vendors, food trucks, raffles, art, games, beer garden and more and was presented by Purple Peake, a merchant on Denton’s Market Street.
Market Street was full of people enjoying the beautiful spring day.
CannaFest was just one of the Festivals scheduled in Denton this Spring. It’s a wonderful town to visit, well worth taking the short detour off of MD404 on the way to Rehoboth Beach. I’m planning on being there on May 14th during the Caroline County Chamber of Commerce’s Battle of the Foodies with my Greeting Cards and prints.
About Drives With Steve
Nearly three years ago I began doing a series of posts I called “Drives with Steve” on my photography Website, SGAtkinson.com. The idea was to take a drive from my home in Chestertown to an randomly selected location and take photographs along the way.
This eventually turned into the “Point of Interest” Series. Along the way I’ve captured a pretty wide range of photos. Check back each Sunday to see photos from a latest Drive. Although due to weather or other circumstances some may be of previous drives.
If you are wondering whether you can get a print of one of myphotographs. You sure can. Three sizes are available. 8×10 (with 11×14 Matt) at $25, 11×14 at $50 or 13×19 at $75. However, if you would like another size, I’m sure I can get one to you. Just send an email to photos@shoretobefun.com if you are interested in purchasing or have any questions.
You can support this project and see additional photos if many of these “Drives” at Patreon.com/ShoreToBeFun.
