Light Covering

Today the forecast is for snow. Well it is depending where you are. It could be the second snowfall of the season following the one that opened the New Year. This photo is of the light covering in a field in Kent County, MD.

I’m not one to venture out to take very many photos of the snow. I like to just sit at home and watch it fall and to hear the silence that seems to take hold when it snows.

These photos, all taken in Kent County, MD were taken at various times over the past half dozen years.

Snowy Sunset

This was taken in Early January 2017 at about the same time as this Week’s Photo of the Week. While very similar they are also not. I wonder which one you like best.

Eastern Neck Ice
Eastern Neck Ice

Last year I went out near the end of January looking to take a few ice photos. This was one of the best that I shot that day at Eastern Neck Island.

Snow on the Rocks

In 2015 the area had a deep freeze that cause parts of the Chesapeake Bay to freeze. These two photos were taken at Ferry Park Beach in Rock Hall after a snow fell on the frozen bay on President’s Day Weekend.

The trip was suppose to be the beginning of a ride throughout Kent County taking these icy cold snow photos. As I finished taking the Chesapeake Photo when I tried to start my vehicle, it wouldn’t start. The battery decided it was too cold to start the motor.

I did finish the trip a couple of days later with the following photos

Snow Docked

This one is of a boat that was still docked at Betterton Beach.

No Ice Skating

And this one is at Wilmer Park in Chestertown. I had walked by this sign many time prior to that day, but I didn’t realize that along with No Swimming it also said No Ice Skating.

About Drives With Steve
Nearly three years ago I began doing a series of posts I called “Drives with Steve” on my photography Website, SGAtkinson.com. The idea was to take a drive from my home in Chestertown to an randomly selected location and take photographs along the way.

This eventually turned into the “Point of Interest” Series. Along the way I’ve captured a pretty wide range of photos that I could put into the Photo Book that I am currently producing.

This year I am planning to do more “Drives” and post them here for your viewing pleasure. Check back each Sunday to see a reposting of one of my previous “Drives” or a new one.

These photographs are available as a print. Three sizes are available. 8×10 (with 11×14 Matt) at $25, 11×14 at $50 or 13×19 at $75. Please send an email to photos@shoretobefun.com if you are interested in purchasing.
