A few years ago I began doing a series of posts on my photography Website, SGAtkinson.com, that I called “Drives with Steve”. The idea was to just go out drive to some random place taking photographs along the way. Sometimes it was just a decision to take a short side trip while driving to a work location.
This eventually turned into the “Point of Interest” Series. Along the way I’ve captured a pretty wide range of photos that I could put into the Photo Book that I am currently producing.
I’m always am planning to do more “Drives” and post them here for your viewing pleasure, I haven’t done too many recently. I do hope to do more in the coming months
This is the very first one that I published in April 2019.

On my way home from a nice lunch with some Networking friends in Arnold I decided to take a short detour and go to Wye Mills. Wye Mills is the home of the Wye Mill which has been in nearly continuous operation since 1682. It still is in operation. It was the home of the Wye Oak, Maryland’s honorary state tree. The tree was destroyed on a June 6, 2002 by a severe thunderstorm and a clone of the old tree stands in its current location.
