Rock Hall Water Front during Pirates Weekend Dinghy Run
Tomorrow is Labor Day and I am sure that you are having a great weekend. A few are enjoying the weekend on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, either at the Beach or enjoying any of the other great activities that Chesapeake Country has to offer.

Soon you’ll be heading home. The photos here show some of the spots you may want to stop to see as you travel.

Harriet Tubman Mural
If you are traveling north on US50 one great place to stop is the Town of Cambridge. There is lot to see there. One is the “Take My Hand” mural.

Wye Oak State Park
Another stop on US50 is Wye Mills where a very short detour will take you to the location of the Old White Oak, which not that long ago was it was the oldest White Oak Tree in the US. The tree is now gone, but a clone of the tree is still a great sight.

Ridgley Train Station
Traveling on MD404 there a many places to take a side trip. Of course there is downtown Denton and the Court House, which I featured last week, as well as a couple of stops on the Tubman Byway. There is the Town of Ridgley and their Train Station.

Jimmy Foxx Memorial in Suldersville
Just a short trip off of MD301 is the town of Sudlersville which also has a Train Station and the memorial statute of on Baseball’s great of the early 20th Century, Jimmie Foxx.

Chestertown's Fountain
Perhaps a little farther off your usual path to home is the Historic Town of Chestertown and the Fountain that sits in the middle of town.

Enjoy the rest of your Weekend!

About the Sunday Posts

Nearly three years ago I began doing a series of posts I called “Drives with Steve” on my photography Website, SGAtkinson.com. The idea was to take a drive from my home in Chestertown to an randomly selected location and take photographs along the way.

This eventually turned into the “Points of Interest” series. Along the way I’ve captured a pretty wide range of photos.

For the past several months I have been doing posts on each Sunday that I have been terming,”Drives with Steve” and have tried to have recent one every week. Over these past few there has been a few things that have made these weekly trips difficult to do. One of the biggest has been, in a word, inflation. Especially the price of gas. The cost for these trips have nearly doubled.

I have decided to only do one “Drives with Steve” post a month, on the first Sunday of the Month. What will be appearing on the other Sundays?

“Points of Interest” on the Second Sunday, “Common Series” on the Third Sunday and “Over the Years on the Fourth Sunday.

My Thanks goes out to all who are constant visitors. I am grateful for all of the support I am receiving.
