In 2020 the Queen Anne’s County Watermen’s Association following the lead of Cambridge and Rock Hall took 202 baskets to make their first Crab Basket Tree. These baskets were created with story of remembrance to honor those watermen, past and active, and those who have passed away. It was so popular that this year it returned with two trees.
The trees, made from painted crab baskets, are in located on the Grasonville side of the Kent Narrows waterway at the corner of Wells Cove Road and Rt. 18. They will be in place through the last week in January.
The Queen Anne’s County Watermen’s Association consisting of local commercial watermen who make their living harvesting seafood from local waterways will benefit from the baskets sold and allow the association to continue to to preserve their heritage and way of life.
