In a couple of days we will be celebrating the 248th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. On the Chesapeake Bay one popular locations to celebrate is the Town of Rock Hall. On Wednesday July 3rd there will be Fire Works. On the 4th a traditional small town Independence Day Parade followed by activities at the town’s Civic Center. Sunday it’ll be the Annual Kent County Waterman’s Day.
Traditionally the evening of July 3rd is the Fire Works show brought to the town by the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company. It’s a wonderful show enjoyed by all whether you are on the land or out on the Chesapeake Bay.
On the morning of July 4th the town hosts the Annual 4th of July Parade. If you are looking for a great community parade this is certainly one of the best on Chesapeake County.
Rock Hall was built on the backs the waterman. The Kent County Waterman’s Association sponsors this all-afternoon showcase of the waterman’s heritage. The day always falls on a Sunday. It’s a family fun day of food, contests, vendors and the beloved boat docking!
And there are many things to do while in the area. Visit Eastern Neck Island NWR, the Battle of Caulk’s Field Memorial, and the Murals around the town.
Rock Hall is where I’ll be this weekend.
