Betterton Day Annual Beach with Mug Photo

Betterton Day Annual Beach with Mug Photo
This photo is from Betterton Appreciation Day, which was held this past Saturday, August 6, 2022. In the early 20th Century Betterton was a major resort town on the Chesapeake visited by steamships with people escaping the heat of the big cities. All that remains now is the beach, which is still a public beach owned by Kent County. The resort hotels have been torn down and replaced by condos. The town’s Volunteer Fire Company hold a little festival with a parade, and vendors on the beach.

Lately I have been giving a great deal of thought about the Photo of The Week. Most importantly what type of photo should it be and from what part of my photography.

While I think of myself as a Fine Art Photographer, I really am a photojournalist covering events happening in Chesapeake Country. Some of these events are simple business meet and greets, ribbon cuttings and other news type events. Others are big festivals, like the one I am working as the event photographer this weekend, Pirates and Wenches Weekend in Rock Hall.

Which of these, Fine Art, Photojournalism, Nature is best for the Photo of The Week. The photo choices could be a nature photo, a photo from an event, a business ribbon cutting or one from a previous year of an event that I would like to Promote.

I am also considering doing two Photos of The Week, one a throwback photo and the other a current one. What are your thoughts, I’d like to know
